Born in the US, raised in Germany, I have received schooling and higher education in both countries. My bicultural identity and international education have enabled me to combine my passions for language and art as a professional translator. I graduated valedictorian from my Diploma of Fine Art [Master's equivalent] from the State Academy of Fine Art in Karlsruhe in 2010, and have received academic and practical training in fine art, art history, linguistics, film and theater studies from UC Berkeley, UCLA, the University of Heidelberg, and the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Art. This broad international experience has given me specialized knowledge and expertise in fine arts translation. Besides working as a free-lance translator full-time, I have also pursued my own practice as a visual artist over the last five years from London. In over 10 years of professional experience, I have worked with numerous publishers, galleries, academic and arts institutions in Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
I offer fast, thorough and high quality translations. My communication is prompt, reliable and responsive. I plan efficiently with clients to clarify any issues and deliver final documents on time. My prices are quoted according to each individual text, employing a clear protocol to ensure rates are calculated correctly. I offer a customized workflow for regular clients, compiling house style and vocabulary sheets to coordinate consistent terminology across multiple publications and maximize the efficiency of our collaboration. For large-scale projects, I can manage, plan and coordinate collaborative work and draw on my network of professional colleagues while maintaining consistency and quality across documents.
